Therapy by video, in five states.

Back to Joy is a telehealth practice. Flor Villagran, LCSW, is licensed in Utah, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts, and works with adults in English and Spanish. There is no office to visit — the hour comes to wherever you can close a door.

How online therapy works here

Sessions are 50 minutes, by secure video, usually at the same time each week or every other week. What you need on your end is modest: a private space where you will not be overheard, a stable connection, and headphones if the room is shared.

Licensure is state-based, which is the one practical rule worth understanding before you reach out. Flor can work with you when you are physically located in Utah, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Massachusetts at the time of the session — not where you grew up, not where your mail goes. If you live in one of these states and travel, we talk about scheduling around that rather than pretending it isn't a factor.

Sessions happen in English, in Spanish, or in the bilingual back-and-forth that shows up when a feeling only has a word in one of them. You do not have to pick a language at the start and stay in it.

The work itself is the same work described across this site: betrayal and relational rupture, grief of every kind including pet loss, anxiety that has quietly narrowed your life, self-worth, and the long transitions that don't fit on a calendar. Telehealth changes the logistics, not the depth.

The five licensed states

Telehealth Therapy in Utah

Clients meet from Salt Lake apartments, Provo townhomes, Ogden front rooms, and the long quiet distances between them. Sessions are scheduled in Mountain Time, and there is room here for questions about identity, family expectation, and faith change without having to explain the context first.

Telehealth Therapy in New York

The whole state, not just the city — Manhattan and Brooklyn, but also Buffalo, the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and upstate towns where a bilingual therapist is hard to find locally. Sessions run in Eastern Time, in English, Spanish, or the back-and-forth between them.

New York City →Buffalo →

Telehealth Therapy in Virginia

Northern Virginia's commute-shaped days, Richmond's slower rhythm, and the coastal and military-adjacent life around Virginia Beach each bring different pressures into the room. Video means the hour holds even when the week does not.

Arlington →Richmond →Virginia Beach →

Telehealth Therapy in Pennsylvania

Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Allentown are three different states of mind, and much of Pennsylvania sits outside any of them. Telehealth keeps a weekly hour possible without driving across a county to get it.

Philadelphia →Pittsburgh →Allentown →

Telehealth Therapy in Massachusetts

Boston and Cambridge run on academic and hospital calendars; Worcester and the central part of the state run on their own. Winters make in-person consistency hard here, and video is what keeps the work continuous through them.
