I connect best with adult clients who notice that, lately, something is keeping them from being themselves and have chosen to seek support from someone who not only supports them but is also genuinely curious about the unique experiences affecting them.
I work with clients in English and in Spanish. I have a particular connection with first-generation Latino clients navigating identity, family expectations, and the experience of moving between cultures — though my practice serves anyone the work resonates with.
My approach is curiously grounded and warmly challenging. Within our sessions, you'll learn to verbalize the thoughts and feelings that normally make us feel uncomfortable, self-conscious, or ashamed — and discover that it is precisely those thoughts that, when named freely, lead us to a version of you that simply needed a safe, non-judgmental space to exist.

Flor Villagran, LMHC, is licensed in five states. Sessions are by secure video, and you need to be physically in one of these states at the time of your session.
Therapy in New York
From the five boroughs to Buffalo and the Hudson Valley — sessions scheduled in Eastern Time, in English, Spanish, or the mix your thoughts actually happen in.
Therapy in Utah
Salt Lake, Provo, Ogden, and the long quiet distances between — Mountain Time scheduling, and room for identity and faith questions that don't fit neatly anywhere.
Therapy in Virginia
Arlington, Richmond, Virginia Beach and statewide — work that fits around a commute, a caseload, or a military-adjacent life that keeps moving.
Therapy in Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown and the smaller towns between them — a steady weekly hour that doesn't ask you to cross a county to get it.
Therapy in Massachusetts
Boston, Cambridge, Worcester and out to the edges of the state — therapy that survives a February when leaving the house is its own project.

I do not currently bill insurance directly. I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement through your PPO — many PPOs cover a portion. We'll discuss what works in our consultation.
QuestionsPreguntas
I'm licensed to provide telehealth therapy in New York, Utah, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. As long as you're physically located in one of these states at the time of our session, we can work together via secure video. If you split time between states or are planning a move, we'll talk about what that means for continuity of care during your free consultation.
Yes — sessions are available in both English and Spanish, and you're welcome to move between the two as you need. I have a particular connection with first-generation Latino clients navigating identity, family expectations, and the experience of moving between cultures. Bilingual therapy isn't only about translation; it's about being able to use the language each feeling actually lives in.
You don't need to be able to name it neatly. It's enough to notice that something feels off, or that an old pattern keeps showing up. You don't need a diagnosis or a tidy story to begin. The first few sessions are largely about getting curious together: what you're carrying, when it started, and what shape it takes in your daily life. From there, we shape the work to fit what you actually need.
It's a 15-minute video call. You tell me what's bringing you in, I tell you a bit about how I work, and we both get a felt sense of whether we're a fit. There's no pressure to commit on the call or after — it's fine to take a day or two to decide. If we're not the right match, I'll happily share names of other therapists who might be.
Back to Joy is a private-pay practice — I am not in-network with any insurance panels. Standard sessions are $175, with a limited number of sliding-scale spots between $125–$175. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill you submit to your insurer for partial reimbursement.
The first session is a longer conversation — we slow down and map what's bringing you in: the current situation, the history underneath it, and what you'd like to feel different. I'll ask questions, you'll ask questions, and together we'll sketch what the work might focus on for the next several sessions. Nothing is locked in; the plan evolves as we learn what helps.
Yes. I see adults across New York State — New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, and everywhere in between — by secure video. You'll need to be physically located in New York at the time of session. Bilingual sessions in English and Spanish are available.
Yes. I provide telehealth therapy to adults across Utah, including Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, and surrounding areas. Sessions are by secure video and available in English or Spanish; you'll need to be physically located in Utah when we meet.
Yes. I offer virtual therapy to adults across Virginia — including Virginia Beach, Richmond, Arlington, and Northern Virginia — by secure video. Bilingual sessions in English and Spanish are available; you'll need to be in Virginia at session time.
Yes. I see adults across Pennsylvania — Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, and beyond — by secure video. Sessions are available in English or Spanish, and you'll need to be physically located in Pennsylvania during our time together.
Yes. I provide telehealth therapy across Massachusetts, including Boston, Cambridge, Worcester, and surrounding areas. Sessions run by secure video in English or Spanish; you'll need to be physically located in Massachusetts when we meet.
Yes — this is one of the populations I have the deepest connection with. That can mean navigating family expectations, language and cultural in-betweenness, and the weight of being the one who 'made it.' Sessions move between English and Spanish as needed, and there's no need to translate the parts of your experience that only live in one language.
Often, yes — though the right entry point depends on where you are. Early on, the work is usually about stabilization: sleep, nervous system regulation, and rebuilding a sense of safety in your own body. Once that foundation is steadier, trauma-focused approaches can help process the specific memories and meaning of what happened. We'll talk through pacing in your consultation.
